Sustainable Heat Transformer Technology

Since 2023, the Civic Innovation Lab has facilitated the City of Burnaby’s involvement in and support of Dr. Majid Bahrami‘s Sustainable Heat Transformer Technology project. Funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC), Mitacs, and the City of Burnaby through the District Energy Utility project, Dr. Bahrami’s research focuses on integrating sorption thermal storage systems into the forthcoming Burnaby District Energy Utility. Dr. Bahrami is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Alternative Energy Conversion Systems at SFU’s School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering.
